Dr. Laura Cristancho, DVM
“I graduated as a veterinarian in Colombia in 1991 and moved to Canada in 2001. After doing a Master of Science program in the Pathobiology Department of the University of Guelph in 2006, I worked for a poultry-vaccine-producing laboratory for short time. I assisted at several veterinary clinics and hospitals located in New Hamburg, Elora, and Waterloo while completing the VSTEP training in 2010. I obtained my license to practice Veterinary Medicine in Ontario in 2015. My most rewarding experience so far has been working as part-time veterinarian at the Waterloo West Animal Hospital, and as a Locum veterinarian for some small animal practices in Elmira, Brantford, and Hamilton. I currently live in Kitchener with my Husband Raul and my adorable German Shepherd Whiskey. My goals are to focus in preventive medicine and client education. I strive to make all my clients and patients feel welcome when visiting our hospital.”

Cassandra, Veterinary Assistant
“I graduated with distinction from University of Guelph: Ridgetown College in 2011 from their Veterinary Office Administration program. I have been working in clinics since 2012 as a Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist. I had a short break from working in clinic to have my son in 2015 and recently moved back to the Kitchener area. I have a passion for client education and rescuing/connecting with rescues. At home, I like to spend my time with my family which includes a 10 year old CatahoulaX, 7 year old Beagle, 5 year old Miniature Dachshund, 4 year old DSHXRagdoll, 3 year old Devon Rex and a 7 year old bearded dragon. Half of my pets are rescue animals and have enriched my life completely. “
Confetti, Clinic Cat
“I am a 1.5-year old Domestic Short Hair female cat. I was adopted by the Doctors and Technicians at Waterloo West Animal Hospital, when my previous owners decided to euthanize me because I was peeing everywhere and being aggressive. But lucky for me, the staff did not believe what they said, and gave me a second chance. It seems as though my previous owner may have been confused as they had many older cats in their home. Since rescued, I have never showed signs of aggression nor have I urinated outside of my box. Since becoming a clinic cat, my vaccines have been updated and I am receiving full protection against fleas, ticks and other nasty parasites! I have since moved to the brand new clinic, Huron East Animal Hospital and I love to greet people, investigate dogs and I like to explore the clinic. If you see me around please give me some pets, I am very friendly!”
